IRS started sending unemployment tax refunds to 2.8 million. When will you see yours?
Federal refunds are being disbursed to millions of Americans who collected unemployment benefits last year and paid income tax on that money. The American Rescue Plan passed in March excludes the first $10,200 of unemployment benefits from household income for single filers (as much as $20,400 for married couples filing jointly). Since many had already filed their tax returns before that change in the law, some 13 million taxpayers could be due for a refund.
